Best book Boyfriends – Valentines Day

Ever get that feeling that it’s Valentine’s Day and you are just… well, single? That feeling that eats you up and you just start wondering if you are going to remain single for the rest of your life? Until you are old and gray, in a house full of handmade crap and cats?

One day I hope I will find the man of my dreams… not a prince though, I’m through with that! After reading LOTS of YA books I realized that there’s a lot of different men out there waiting for me to show up, and once I do they will simply confess their undying love! Even better if I’m involved in a freaking love triangle!

Can you imagine, two hot guys fighting each other to conquer you?! (ha-ha-ha)

Oh shit, I guess I dream too much! My dad looked at me a couple of days ago and asked me if I would EVER get a boyfriend!! Thanks dad, your question made my day!

But you know what? My dad’s stupid question made my too-dreamy-brain click… I think I’m searching too much, but honestly all I see are too attractive guys, assholes, playboys who won’t change for me, drunkards, dudes with violence problems and those whose future is to clean toilets… So the choice isn’t really rich… I’m either too smart for my own good, too ignorant or too picky (or all of these together!)

On Valentine’s Day I always ask myself “Will I meet a nice guy today?”, I never have xD I’ve come to the point that the guys on Romance books have completely ruined me!!! And seriously how can there ever be a guy better than the following:

– Will Herondale – The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare

– Jem Carstairs –  The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare

– Kellan Kyle – Thoughtless series by S.C. Stephens

– Rafael – Penryn & The End of Days series by Susan Ee

– Remington Tate – Real series by Katy Evans

– Kyler Quinn – Frigid series by J. Lynn

– Andrew Parrish – The Edge of Never series by J.A. Redmerski

– Aiden St. Delphi – The Convenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

–  Cameron Hamilton – Wait for You series by Jennifer L.Armentrout

– Travis Maddox – Beautiful series by Jamie McGuire

– Adrian Ivashkov – Vampire Academy series and Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead

– Noah Shaw – Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin

– Caleb Jacobson – Significance series by Shelly Crane

– Cole Holland – White Rabbit Chronicles series by Gena Showalter

– Daemon Black – Lux series by Jennifer L.Armentrout

– Kaidan Rowe – The Sweet Trilogy series by Wendy Higgins

– Aaron Warner – Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi

– Rush Finley – Too Far series by Abbi Glines

– Eric Northman – Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris

– Ian O’Shea – The Host by Stephenie Meyer

– Mr.Darcy (YOU THOUGHT I WOULD FORGET HIM?! WELL I DIDN’T!) – Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

If any of these guys I just mentioned ever show up at my door step I will get married right away… and then my dad won’t have to worry about me being stuck alone xD

Supernatural gifs just keep getting better and better 😉

Anyway, Happy Valentine’s Day! If you’re single like me just grab your fav book, start reading, eat lots of cookies or call all your single girl friends, invite them over and have fun! If you’re not single… well I hope whoever is with you gives you a beautiful gift and may the two of you have a very romantic day (omg, I’m really not talented at this, just bare with me).

Book Review: Savor by Kate Evangelista

Savor

Savor by Kate Evangelista

Series: Vicious Feast (#1)

Published: December 1st 2013

Publisher: Crescent Moon Press

Summary:I’m Dakota Collins, a tough talking, eye patch wearing, workaholic photography student. Why am I important? Well, maybe because I get to spend an entire month with Vicious, only the sickest indie rock band out there.
You see, I needed a subject for my Spring Showcase introspective in order to graduate. During a chance encounter at a club I’d been sent to cover for the Daily Gossip, our ironically named college paper, the features writer I usually teamed up with introduced me to the band—by accident, I might add. It involved a run in with a scary, bald bodyguard. Anyway, long story short, I signed a contract to take pictures of Vicious.
I should have known their handsome, yet way too serious for his own good bassist, Luka Visraya, wouldn’t be able to keep his hands to himself. He’s gorgeous and all, but the way he smiles spells trouble with a capital L. I’m in for a long month with him around.
Crazy shit happens and then some. So, if you want the skinny on Vicious and the events revolving around my stay at Lunar Manor, read my story.
Again, refer to the warning above.”

Review

I really like Kate Evangelista’s books. They are original, funny, and deeply entertaining. So how could this happen?? *cries* Savor is an unique book that will attend only to certain people. I’m not one of those people, unfortunately. I tried to like this book but failed, although there were times when I was enjoying reading it. All was going meh until the very end. That’s when things turned into “wtf is this?”.

Savor is about a girl, Dakota, who wears an eyepatch (someone say yarr-harr) because of something that happened to one of her eyes, and finds her escape in photography. One night she gets to meet the band of the moment, Vicious, and becomes their photographer for the tour. Until here, all fine. I liked Dakota and her don’t mess with me personality. She gave off the vibe of someone who is trying to be strong but is vulnerable on the inside and that only make me like her more. Also, she was funny and sassy as hell!

“I think I’d make the perfect Bond villain. I already had the eye patch. All I needed now was the perfect motivation to take over the world. And a white Persian cat.”

However, she grows weaker throughout the novel, getting insecure sometimes, which is completely normal and makes her more relatable, but it was frustrating when we wanted her to just say somethings out loud and she just kept quiet OR when she did some stupid stupid things. (There’s this scene where, in my opinion, she obviously rapes Luka in his sleep but whatever.)

I’m not really going to get into detail about the other characters because I didn’t feel anything towards them. I can only say that I liked Dray, the drummer. The band is a mysterious thing, you never know what’s happening and what the relation between them is. However, Luka is a SOB who kept me annoyed. I… I was so confused during the whole book. Does he want her only for sex or does he actually care?

We get all this amazing concert’s scenes, and I do wish I was there to see it. The photos’ descriptions are damn alluring and so beautiful written, I wanted to see them in real life. Those are the best parts of Savor, we become Dakota when she’s in her zone, whenever she’s focused we are right there with her. It’s a shame that didn’t happen all the time. We get a connection with the character for a moment and them boom, no more feelings towards it.

Savor, being a New Adult book had some graphic scenes and for someone who knows the genre that is okay. Nevertheless, near the end of the book, why would Dakota act a certain way (she jumps Luka’s bones in his sleep!)? Also, there’s this scene where Dakota photographs a sex scene between two band members… That left me a little uncomfortable.

Anyway, all blows up when Dakota’s background starts to be questioned and Kate Evangelista decides to give a paranormal twist to the story. I was completely thrown off by this turn of events. How did this happen actually? It just came out of nowhere. I didn’t like it and I’m sad to say I don’t think I am interested in the path the story is taking. Many characters were revealed to be not what I thought and my brain couldn’t really deal with it, it didn’t have the time because the book ended and we didn’t get any explanation just a big:

I believe that many people will like, even love, Savor. It was not for me but it might be a favourite to many. My advice is give it a chance and see for yourself.

Summary: “Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.”

Review:

I’m a complete mess, this book is an emotional rollercoaster, what’s wrong with me? asdfghjkl, it’s so beautiful! I can’t remember the last time I felt like this -actually, Clockwork Princess, that one did a number on me –

Juliette is a seventeen-year-old girl who has been living in a cell for almost a year, she keeps a journal where she rights her intimate thoughts, she writes about her pain, how much she wants freedom and to see a bird. Juliette has what can be both called a curse or a gift. Juliette can’t touch people, otherwise they’ll either get hurt, or worse, end up dead. Life didn’t go easy on her, she was always rejected by her parents and her peers, who threw rocks at her and called her a monster, as such, Juliette doesn’t know what’s like to feel the warm embrace of someone who loves her and doesn’t know what’s like to have a friend. When she was 14 she tried to help a little boy, however, once she got her hands on him for too long, the boy was dead. Thanks to the unfortunate accident she was thrown into several hospitals and asylums, where she was submitted to tests to find out the reason behind her deadly touch. The doctors didn’t find it so she was taken to a prison where she suffered loneliness, hunger, cold and lack of hygiene.

Her life changes when she gets a new cellmate, Adam, a tattooed, dangerous-looking guy, who resembles someone she used to know. Adam acts like a prick at first, he takes her mattress and her sheet, later he explains he only did that to warn her away. Adams also likes to ask too many questions and sometimes can’t seem to keep his hands  for himself.

Two weeks go by until suddenly five soldiers step into their cell and take them both. Once Juliette wakes up she finds herself out of the small cell and surrounded by a luxurious room. She is then led to a very handsome young-man who explains her what her purpose from then on will be.

Juliette finds out that life outside a cell is more restraining and dangerous than she thought. You realize that Juliette is terrified of her own power and that she is probably going to be used as a pawn in a war she doesn’t want in.

I believe that this book has a romantic triangle, quiet a usual one xD This book made my heart squeeze in so many different ways and it’s so addicting, once you reach the end you wish you had read slower and for the book to have more pages!

I have to mention again my FEELS over this book, I could hardly contain my feelings inside!

Some of my favorites quotes:

“All I ever wanted was to reach out and touch another human being not just with my hands but with my heart.”

“I’m oxygen and he’s dying to breathe.”

“I’ve been screaming for years and no one has ever heard me.”

“His lips soften into a smile that cracks apart my spine. He repeats my name like the word amuses him. Entertains him. Delights him. In seventeen years no one has said my name like that

I’m going to read the second one right now, and guess what? The third one of the series was published only two days ago! *jumps in joy*  🙂

Series: The Blackcoat Rebellion (#1)

Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Published: 26th November 2013

Summary:YOU CAN BE A VII. IF YOU GIVE UP EVERYTHING.

For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked—surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister’s niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There’s only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed …and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that’s not her own, she must decide which path to choose—and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she’s only beginning to understand. Previously titled Masked.”

Review:

The summary given on Goodreads is just awful, it just doesn’t explain the plot well enough… it makes things seem shallow.

Anyway, I have to criticize the name of the main character, Kitty… well Kitty, it’s a baby cat you know? It’s also the name perv guys like to calls girls xD but like the main character explains, her mom must’ve been crazy when she had named her Kitty – I can only agree with that statement, my grandma wanted to name me after her aunt, who happened to enjoy throwing acid on people’s cars, and who’s name was Teodora T.T , thank God my mom didn’t allow that –

Kitten is introduced to us as a rather “interesting” 17-year-old girl. She steals an orange, yeah, she steals an orange and risks getting caught and killed because of an orange, no, she wasn’t that hungry, she was just mad because after taking The Test that would decided her future, she is graded with a III, a III means she will live a miserable life, not as bad as a I or a II, but still, as a III she’s considered as a useless member of society. Her boyfriend who’s only one month younger, one moth until his 17th birthday, tries to calm her down, tells her that he will run away with her. Kitten doesn’t accept that, she knows the risk, she knows that both of them will be killed if caught. Kitten then makes the decision to work for Tabs, a hooker, for one month until her boyfriend comes to her rescue after he becomes 17.

Kitty get’s her first client, on this scene I asked myself if what I was reading was really YA ahaha, but don’t worry, nothing sexual happens between her and her client. You see, her first client is the dangerous Prime Minister, who makes a her a proposal she can’t refuse; she can either spend the rest of her days as a III or become a VII. Obviously she notices that there must be a catch but the Prime Minister only reveals her task after she had agreed.

Kitty wakes up in a hospital bed, completely different, she went through a plastic surgery, a hardcore one, she is Masked and turned into the Prime Minister’s niece, Lila Hart, who had a very doubtful accident. You are perhaps asking why was Kitty chosen instead of another girl, well, Kitty happens to have eyes exactly like Lila’s, and eyes are the only thing that can not be changed.

Kitty must learn how to impersonate Lila in perfection, so nobody will ever find that she’s not really who they think she is.

I wrote a list of most characters so the story will be better understood:

– Kitty – main character; Benjamin – Kitty’s boyfriend; Daxton Hart -the Prime Minister; Augusta – Daxton’s mother; Celia- Daxton’s sister; Knox -Lila’s fiance; Lila -Celia’s daughter; Greyson – Daxton’s son

So as you can see, there’s this family, the Harts, aka bunch of “hartless” bastards *I made a funny*, honestly they’re all a bunch a back-stabbing, conspiratorial twats, truly, I just felt so mad and frustrated, cause this book, it’s always about plots, secrets, Kitty finding out stuff that were a lot predictable… I was undoubtedly, discontented with Kitty’s stupidity! Seriously, it was obvious from the very beginning that she would be a PAWN used by everyone. Even though she tried to follow Daxton’s rules at first, it’s was quite conspicuous that everyone wanted to use her for their own selfish reasons…

The thing that really angered me the most was the end of the book, again I couldn’t help but feel mad, cause honestly, that shit could be avoided! Stupid Kitty!

Don’t get me wrong, this book was still a great one to read, I genuinely did not stop reading until the very end, I ought to praise Aimée for that. I recommend it to you if you like dystopia, romance and political strategies – lmao –

Under Different Stars (Kricket, #1)

Under Different Stars by Amy A. Bartol

Series: Kricket (#1)

Published: 17th December 2013

Self-Published

Summary: “All she wants is a home, but can she find one…UNDER DIFFERENT STARS

Kricket Hollowell is normally not one to wish upon stars; she believes they’re rarely in her favor. Well versed at dodging caseworkers from Chicago’s foster care system, the past few years on her own have made Kricket an expert at the art of survival and blending in. With her 18th birthday fast approaching, she dreams of the day when she can stop running and find what her heart needs most: a home.

Trey Allairis hates Earth and doubts that anyone from his world can thrive here. What he’s learning of Kricket and her existence away from her true home only confirms his theory. But, when he and Kricket lie together under the stars of Ethar, counting them all may be easier than letting her go.

Kyon Ensin’s secrets number the stars; he knows more about Kricket’s gifts than anyone and plans to possess her because of them. He also knows she’s more valuable than any fire in the night sky. He’ll move the heavens and align them all in order to make her his own.

When everything in their world can be broken, will Kricket rely upon love to save her under different stars?”

Review:

First of all, I think it is my duty to comment of how amazingly beautiful the cover is. Once the cover was revealed, I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. I had already planned to read this book when Amy said that she was publishing another book, since I love The Premonition series (I can’t wait for The Iniquity, the teasers are killing me!).

I liked this book, specially the story, I’ve always been interested on Aliens (specially ever since I read the Lux series by the one and only Jennifer L. Armentrout), the male lead is just to die for, as expected! One thing I really did not like was Kricket, the main character, she is just perfect looking, super intelligent, innocent, cute and everybody wants her. It annoys me because the main character on The Premonition series also happens to be perfect. Hello, people are not perfect! And where’s originality? One of the best things about new books being published by your favorite authors is a total different story! Where’s the originality and imagination? Flew out of the window?

Anyway, Kricket is an orphan who is running away from Chicago’s foster care system, she was constantly being bullied, harassed and beaten while living in foster homes (by jealous girls – LOL *sarcasm*). Kricket suddenly finds herself being stalked by two different groups of super gorgeous men, who claim they are returning her to her homeland so she can be judged for her crimes, although she has no idea which crimes and what home. Trey Allairis, one of the men from one of the groups, is the first one to get her. Him and his group start the dangerous trip to Ethar, a different world, where Kricket originally comes from. During this trip you can see the starting love between Trey and Kricket, which I can only describe as cute xD

After they get to Ethar, Kricket is confronted with the truth of her species and also her duty. I don’t want to spoil for the sake of wanting you to find out everything like this, it’s way more interesting to find out things while reading. I won’t also spoil you because I think I wouldn’t be able to explain you everything correctly, I think I would just mix facts T.T

Despite not having liked the main character, this was a book that did not disappoint me, I want to read the next one (the second one has not been announced).

Book Review: Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

Thoughtless (Thoughtless, #1)

Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

Series: Thoughtless (#1)

Published: June 11th 2011 (first published in 2009)

Publisher: CreateSpace

Summary: “For almost two years now, Kiera’s boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she’s ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.

Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he’s purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes…and none of them will ever be the same.”

Review:

Can I just tell you how truly beautiful this book is? It’s just… there’s no words to describe this. Kellan’s and Kiera’s love story is so enthralling… I felt myself crying, laughing (at Griffin’s stupid sexual innuendos), swooning, getting red-hot mad, sexually frustrated (don’t judge me! read the book and you’ll know what I’m talking about!!), idk, this book made me feel so many different emotions, it’s like a roller coaster…

Once action kicks in you can’t help yourself, you just can’t stop until the very last page, or the last book 😉 And guess what?! There’s gonna be A FUCKING MOVIE!!!

If you haven’t read Thoughtless all I have to say to you is “Go to the next fucking bookstore and buy it!” This is not a stupid love story where two people see each other, just happen to fall in love right way and one month later they’re getting married. No guys… This story is about a couple, Denny and Kiera, who go to a new town, Denny to his dream job and Kiera to University. They start living in Kellan’s, Denny’s old friend, apartment. Kiera’s first impression of Kellan is that he’s a playboy, flirty and HOT, hot as in drop-your-panties-on-the-floor-kind-of-hot. Picture this, rock god, who plays in a band, flirts with every girl, hot bod, face that makes angels sing and a voice sexy enough to turn a lesbian into straight. (ok, perhaps I’m exaggerating ahaha).

As Denny leaves to another town, due to his work, Kiera and Kellan develop a friendship, a friendship that is constantly being  pushed, since they feel attracted to each other. On those times I just felt frustrated, I wanted Kiera to pull away and try to keep her distance. But then again, I think that if I was in Kiera’s shoes I wouldn’t have been able to control myself either around Kellan Kyle.

Then Denny decides that his work is more important than his girlfriend, he calls Kiera to tell her of his boss’s demands concerning work, he has to stay where he is permanently. Obviously Kiera broke up with him, I would’ve done the same, long-distance relationship are a pain in the ass… What I didn’t agree with was getting drunk and have sex with sex-on-a-stick Kellan. She should’ve thought through things instead of jumping into trouble. Denny returns on the next day begging for Kiera’s forgiveness, claiming he had quit the job for her. Kiera get’s back to him and makes an agreement with Kellan to keep their night together in secrecy. I was so sad for the three of them, specially Kiera, she’s a person with good intentions, despite all…

Afterwards, Kiera and Kellan get into a very dangerous relationship, full of ups and downs. Their path is full of passion, love and guilt, I felt both sad and mad at everyone, sometimes I wanted to help them, other times yell at them in rage. All of these contradictory feelings make Thoughtless the book it is, brilliant, deep, loving and passionate. I wish to have someone love me as much as Kellan loves Kiera, but truthfully, I don’t want to go through what these two go through :’)

I recommend this book to everyone who simply enjoys reading a breathtaking story.
