Goodreads: ““I think you would be right for a position with quite specific requirements that would be hard to fill otherwise.”

After a vicious fight with her stepbrother and guardian, Natalie storms out of the family McMansion, never imagining that would be the last time she’d be allowed in the house. A string of truly rotten decisions follows, until she finds herself suspended from school, friendless, broke, and camping out at the convenience store where she works. Worst of all, her college applications are due!

Thanks to a helpful teacher and her own stupendous brilliance she manages to get into her top choice college. Unfortunately, dealing with the financial aid forms proves to be too much for her supersmarts and she is about to lose her spot because she cannot get the money together to pay the deposit.

Enter Gareth Boyd, an old family friend with an indecent proposal that will pay for everything—if she can meet his price.

Warning: This story features an eighteen-year-old heroine with a foul mouth and horrible judgment, a criminally unscrupulous man intent on taking advantage of her, and multiple scenes of bondage, spanking, ménage, and one potentially triggering scene of attempted rape. The novel is an erotic fantasy in which characters manipulate or disregard notions of proper consent in ways that would never be acceptable in real life. Adult Readers Only”

Review:

*I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley for an honest review.*

I was pretty uncertain about reading this book, but since Netgalley sent it to me (and I have to admit that I needed to read something spicy), I decided to give it a try.

Thank God I did it. I’m not a big fan of Erotica books, they are usually boring, tacky, silly and always about sex, sex, the romance is rushed and there’s never a real story behind it.

This book is my guilty pleasure, so what? Sue me. I loved this book and I won’t go back on my word.

At first I wasn’t very keen… the main character, Natalie is an idiotic, rude teenage girl, I didn’t like her. Even now I’m not sure I like… actually I hated all the characters on this book. But damn guys, this book is so utterly good, it pulls you in, compels you into reading it until the last damn page.

Natalie is an 18-year-old girl who get’s thrown out of her house by her bastard of a step-brother because someone published on the internet a video of her making out with two guys (this was the first thing I didn’t like about her.). It’s not that I don’t agree with women being with two guys, I mean, come on! These days guys have three-ways with two girls and no one bats an eye, so why can’t women do the same if they want to? The thing I didn’t agree with, was Natalie doing it in public. Even if she was with only a guy or girl I still think it’s gross to go at it in public, privacy is good, go for it, do it in private.

Anyway, after that, Natalie practically becomes homeless, until an a friend f hers, Gareth makes her a very “interesting” proposition. He wants her to become a love slave, not only to him, but also to Jamie, another really “interesting” dude, in exchange he will pay her college fees (Brown University).

The thing about this book is that all characters are fucked up in their own way. Even now I don’t know what is the thing about this book, only that I loved it and I want to forget it so I can read it again.

I must tell you that this book’s sex scenes are all disturbing if you’re used to reading stuff of love and flowers (me!!!), I’m used to more vanilla situations, where I can picture myself being the main character surrounded by love and sunshine. *hahaha-hardy-har-har*

Even if I couldn’t relate to Natalie or her situation, let’s called it situation cause it’s seems nicer, I was still able to read this book without wanting to shut down my computer and scream bloody murder.

Another thing I loved about College Bound was the writer. Lilia Ford writes wonderfully, not to mention that she is hilarious!!!

I couldn’t hold back my laughter in certain parts of the book, which scared my brother, because it’s almost 3 am and the house is super quiet. Have I mentioned that my laughter is kind of creepy? No? Okay, now you know it.

Guys, read this book if you’re into spicy romances. That’s all I can tell you.

Book Review: In Flight by R.K.Lilley

In Flight by R.K.Lilley

Series: Up in the Air (#1)

Published: October 20th 2012

Publisher: Self-published

Summary: “When reserved flight attendant Bianca gets one look at billionaire hotel owner James Cavendish, she loses all of her hard-won composure. For a girl who can easily juggle a tray of champagne flutes at 35,000 feet in three inch heels, she finds herself shockingly weak-kneed from their first encounter. The normally unruffled Bianca can’t seem to look away from his electrifying turquoise gaze. They hold a challenge, and a promise, that she finds impossible to resist, and she is a girl who is used to saying no and meaning it.

Bianca is accustomed to dealing with supermodels and movie stars in her job as a first class flight attendant, but James Cavendish puts them all to shame in the looks department. If only it were just his looks that she found so irresistible about the intimidating man, Bianca could have ignored his attentions. But what tempts her like never before is the dominant pull he seems to have over her from the moment they meet, and the promise of pleasure, and pain, that she reads in his eyes.”

Review:

– Attention kinky readers –

I have read some BDSM books, being 50 Shades of Grey my first one, obviously. In Flight has more story but still looooot’s of sex.

I really liked the main character, Bianca, she has a very sad and dark past, her drunkard father killed her mother when she was young, she ran away and started living on the streets where she met her bestie Stephan. Stephan had also a very sad life… he was abused by his uncle for years and then he had to leave his house when he came out of the closet as homosexual. His parents didn’t like it…

Anyway, after years of fighting poverty, Bianca and Stephan found a job as flight attendants (my dream job when I was a kid). Bianca meets Mr.BDSM on a plane. I hate his character, James is infuriating, controlling, an asshole, a stalker, idk, if all men who are Dominant are like this, ughhh

As usual, in a BDSM book, the guy stalks the girl until she finally gives in, which doesn’t take too long… oh, did I mention Bianca is a virgin? right, well, she is… sounds familiar? The sex is well… violent? ahahaha No vanilla sex guys, so if you are somewhat sensitive towards spanking, cursing, dirty talking (very dirty talking, not just the usual “fuck me”) and STALKING, then just don’t read this.

I liked Bianca because she likes anime (yay!), I even think she watches Vampire Knight with James, although the name is not mentioned I would recognize Kaname and Zero anywhere xD I also liked Bianca because she doesn’t allow James to completely overrule her life (just in bed *smirks*)

Stephan, Bianca’s bff is probably my fav character, he’s sweet, awesome, handsome (too bad he doesn’t play on my team t.t) …

I won’t spoil you the story, but for those who want to know if this book is worth reading even if this has BDSM content, I would say… yes? Idk, I can tell you, personaly, that BDSM romances are not my favorite, I’ve read some, most of them sucked, but this one was good. I wouldn’t recommend this book to faints of heart or innocent souls xD but if you like hot romances with some angst then read this!

P.S.: The 2nd gif… hilarious *cracks up*

Sofyy’s Book Review: If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1)

If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

Goodreads: “The steamy first installment in the Inside Out erotic romance trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones, in the bestselling tradition of Fifty Shades of Grey.

When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she’s shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer—until the terrifying final entry.

Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she’s not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.”

Review

When I started reading the book I was expecting a Fifty Shades of  Grey story, with a controlling rich hottie, an innocent female character and lots of non-vanilla sex. So I was totally uninterested and bored… But after the first chapter I got so into it! Guys, if you didn’t like Fifty Shades of Grey or you don’t like to read about BDSM, you can still read this book! I think Goodreads described this book very poorly. You won’t find BDSM sex scenes, at least between the main character, Sara McMilan, and her “lover”, Chris Merit.

This story goes a lot deeper than a romance where the experienced “Dominant” introduces BDSM to the virginal “Submissive”. In this story you will read about a  woman who finds a few journals written by a woman called Rebecca. Rebecca is what you would call an Anastasia Steel (hahaha), she met a rich guy who showed her the dark side of … sex? (I don’t want to keep repeating myself by always saying BDSM – and I just said it again). Anyway, Sara decides she wants to look for Rebecca and give her her journals back. She calls the place where she works at, an art gallery, but everyone says Rebecca is on holidays. So Sara “infiltrates” herself on the art gallery and somehow gets hired by Mark, her sexy, intense, mysterious boss. (I know this sounds cliché, but no, what you think’s gonna happen isn’t gonna happen). Then Sara meets Chris, an artist who dresses like a biker (weird combination if I may add).

Sara and Chris then start having a hot affair, lots of  hot sex between them, then they reveal some of their secrets to each other, Chris getting jealous because Sara’s boss, Mark, wants to “do her” (his words!! no actually, he used the F- word but I’m trying to be polite here xD) – Even though, I thought this part of the book was hot, it was very tiring to read, I just wanted Sara to find out more things about Rebecca, nobody knows where she is, just that she’s on holiday with her rich boyfriend whose name nobody knows! Sara even starts suspecting that Rebecca might be dead! Lisa Renee Jones wrote all the sex scenes on one place, so it took me a while to read it since it was very repetitive. Trust me, I like a good sex scene like everyone else, but too much get’s boring…

In the last chapters Sara finds out a few things about her boss and Chris, things that frighten her… she then decides to concentrate more on the Rebecca mystery.  But when she’s about to find out something that will probably be a huge mind-blown, BAMM! THE END!

“NOOOOOOOO!”- I thought “How the hell can this end this way?!! One cannot simply end a book like this!”, but this ending made me realize that I liked reading this book, it was something different from what I’m used to read, and I’m totally in for good surprises xD I think I will read the second book but not for now.

Book Review: Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas

Comfort FoodComfort Food by Kitty Thomas

Published: March 21st 2010

Publisher: Burlesque Press

Genre: Erotica, Psychological Thriller

Summary: “Emily Vargas has been taken captive. As part of his conditioning methods, her captor refuses to speak to her, knowing how much she craves human contact. He’s far too beautiful to be a monster. Combined with his lack of violence toward her, this has her walking a fine line at the edge of sanity.

Told in the first person from Emily’s perspective, Comfort Food explores what happens when all expectations of pleasure and pain are turned upside down, as whips become comfort and chicken soup becomes punishment.”

Review

*NOTE: This is not a genre I usually review on this blog but I am currently trying to save every review I have on Goodreads for safe keeping and so I’ll be posting some I have never published on Chibi Reader now. From now on I’ll also be posting information about the book genre so you know if you want to read a review about the book or not.*

This review has spoilers at the end!

description

Why do I keep on reading books that I know will break my heart and most likely make me seek therapy after?
Comfort food has definitely left me broken and, well, not speechless or else I wouldn’t be writing this, but without a doubt mindfucked and near having some kind of attack. I thinks this in itself reflects how amazing this book is. If you like happy endings, I’m sorry, you won’t get one. This is a dark dark book and there is no sugarcoating.

One of my favourite things is that the author didn’t write unecessary scenes. When Emily is having an inner monologue you get caught up in it and don’t skim it as if it isn’t important (actually, most of the book is like this since her captor doesn’t talk so…). When there is a sex scene you don’t enjoy it, you feel her heartbreak and her person disappearing.
Comfort food is full of strong emotions and belive me when I say I read the entire book with my mouth hanging open and tears trying to escape. I think I ended every chapter saying “Shit! Fuck all of this!” every time.

And that ending! God, the ending. I wasn’t expecting that and I believe no one was. Kitty Thomas surprised me and that is not very easy to do. Who knew she would come back and that THAT was what he had planned? That totally messed up with my brain

Now excuse me, I’m going outside, try to lift up a tree and send it flying across the street.
