Goodreads: “Before she goes after the life she’s always wanted, she’s about to find the one she needs.

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…”

Review:

I’m going to be very straightforward with this. This book is good, honestly. It’s interesting, sexy, sometimes funny and it just keeps you hooked, at least it did to me. Yet, it is not one of those books you just have to tell your friends about and try to convince them to read it. It’s very light, romantic, sensual, something you read very quickly, and something you read when you just want some sexy, romantic, happy-ending treat xD

The main character, Pepper, is very sweet and innocent, who just idealizes that she will have a perfect marriage with her brother’s best friend, Hunter. It annoyed throughout the book, because she just kept, on and on and on about making Hunter fall in love with her , then they would marry and have 2.5 children…. *yawns*

Anyway, since she is a virgin,  her friends take her out at night to hook her up with the bar tender,  the so-called playboy who can teach her the ways of “love-making” (typical, might I add). So she meets the bar tender, major hottie, heart-throb, etc.

After seeing each other for a couple of times, Reece (bar tender’s name, aka Cheese xD), starts “teaching”Pepper foreplay… so Pepper can later apply it to Hunter.

Obviously they fall for each other, but idiot Pepper still insists she must stay with Hunter. Hunter takes a notice on her at last, they start dating, until something tragic happens (not too tragic), Pepper finally sees the light and gets together with Reece.

Seems like a very simple plot, which it is, but I quite liked it. There’s more to it, I don’t want to ruin the book for those who haven’t read it. I know I kind of spoiled the end, but still, it was just too obvious, so I guess I didn’t spoil too much xD

Btw, Pepper is such a stupid name xD

P.S: Yes, I totally used a Delena gif, sorry Stelena fandom!

My computer is fine… BUT NOT ME! I’M JUST… DAMN! This is book is SO F****** GOOD I JUST CANNOT

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU DID TO ME SUSAN EE??!!

Okk…. no, I’m not calm but I will try not to look so crazy…

Anyways… *awkward silence*  allow me to say that although this book wasn’t as good as the first one, it was still AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL AND THRILLING (I’ll try to stop using capital letters xD)

In this book you see Penryn fighting to save herself, to save her sister, Raffe and everyone, in this book you realize that Penryn is a fighter and a  warrior who fights for what she believes (I guess that’s her life and her family’s ahaha). Penryn struggles in a world where she can’t expect help from nobody, where she can’t rely on anyone but herself. And even though this all seems too badass material you can still see remnants of funny, hilarious, girly Penryn, I mean, this chick is so amazing, I found myself chanting Beyonce’s Run the World (Girls) during her fighting moments – ahaha seriously!!

LET’S NOT FORGET WHAT SHE CALLED RAFFE’S FRIGGING SWORD!!!! She actually named it Pooky Bear!!! I died… I just, I was laughing my ass off (not literally, for heaven’s sake)

“I am Pooky Bear, from an ancient line of archangel swords.” – Raffe

Her poor sword has to announce itself to the other swords with kind of a War Scream… Can you imagine it? Instead of hearing something like “THIS IS SPARTAAAAAA!” no, you hear “I AM POOKY BEAR, FEAR ME, FOR I AM RUTHLESS!” xD

"Do you realize that when she fights battles, she’s going to have to announce herself to the opposing sword? She’ll be forced to say something ridiculous like, ‘I am Pooky Bear, from an ancient line of archangel swords.’ Or, ‘Bow down to me, Pooky Bear, who has only two other equals in all the worlds.’”

Once Raffe saw that Penryn was alive, something woke up in me, something wild, crazy and uncontrollable, something only book nerds and fangirls have… DA FEELS!

‘It really is you’, says Raffe. He’s staring at me, stunned. His fist is mid-air but paused in the middle of pummeling the hell out of Beliel who is bloody and staggering. He starts a slow smile that melts my bones.”

And Penryn’s sister, Paige! I felt so saddened and sorry for her, poor little girl.. I just wanted to hug her and tell her everything’s gonna be fine… 😦

Let’s not forget that Raffe now has demonic wings … (I can’t say more without spoiling, which is something I’m trying to avoid)

I don’t want to say a lot more cause I know most people still haven’t read the book (yes Ana, I’m talking about you *evil smirk*). For those who have, you probably understand what I’m feeling, Susan Ee plotted this, she knows exactly what to do to strike us right in the heart and leave us mental and crying in a corner like kids.

This book cann0t be described , it is something felt (believe me, you feel A LOT!)

If you haven’t even read the first one, Angelfall, allow me to “kindly” say: “WTF are you still doing here?! Go read Angelfall! right now, come back after you read it!” sorry for my rudeness but right now I can’t act all polite and proper xp

As expected,

Review

You know what came to mind when I was reading The Falconer? The only series with Faeries that I liked: Fever and The Iron Fay. I usually try to stay away from this type of book since until now those were the only series that I enjoyed (and they are awesome! So if you haven’t read them yet go pick them up now!). But everyone was saying such great things about this one that I had to check it out. You know, the hype thing and all that. One cannot escape the hyped books! I admit, The Falconer is worth all the hype. It’s a freaking amazing book, with a kick-ass female heroine and a swooning love interest.

First of all, how many heroines know how to make and detonate bombs? Yup, bombs. Since her mother died, Aileana (Kam) has learned how to fight faeries with her gorgeous tutor, Kiaran, who happens to be a faery himself. For a reason I will not mention, he doesn’t like faeries very much and taught Kam how to kill them. However, he told her not to fight them on her own, she could only go hunting with him. But you know that there would be no story if she actually complied to what he said so off she goes, hunting and killing faeries in the middle of the night by herself. To have more meanings and chances of survival, Kam starts trying to make bombs and weapons. She used to love working with mechanical things with her mother and now she is putting her knowledge to work. Blah blah, shit happens and an amazing story begins.

Okay, The Falconer might not be the epitome of stories but it is greatly enjoyable, with lots of “OMG, it’s now, it’s gonna happen, she’s gonna die now”-moments or “Just kiss already dammit”-moments.

Anyways, I already said I loved the main character I don’t know how many times, let’s talk a little about other character. The dad, the dad… ARGHHH why? Just… No, he was so annoying. Her friend was actually pretty cool, seeing how the society was. She always  supported Kam and when she found out about faeries. Oh boy! Hilarious. And Derrick, Kam’s faery that lives in the closet! Ah! He is the star of the story. Basically, Derrick lives in Kam’s closet because he loves fixing ruined dresses, in which Kam comes from hunting with A LOT. I’d be fascinated if she managed to come home unscraped after fighting with I don’t know how many deadly faeries in a night. He also is her ally, and even though faeries supposedly don’t have emotions, he gets attached to her.

Kiaran… Well, he is the bad faery who actually isn’t that bad and saves Kam one night and becomes her teacher. He is your usual male hero but, damn, this type of character never fails to catch my heart. If only someone like this appeared in real life! Ah! I loved when he has to treat Kam (she gets pretty banged up whenever she has a fight and one night ihihih

But since this book would not be the same without the freaking (not) love triangle. Really, it’s not a love triangle. It’s just a “thing” (read the book if you want to know what I mean). And of course, I have to talk about the damn ending. Okay, I know the author needs to make the readers eager for the next book but I did not want that ending, I wanted some miracle to happen and to save the day. Or for Kirian to just use his fairy mojo to change the outcome of the final battle. Auch, my heart hurts.

If you, one night, want to read a book and don’t mind staying up all night to finish it, because that’s what will happen once you start The Falconer, you know this is book for you. *flies away to search for a Kirian*

Sofyy’s Book Review: If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1)

If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

Series: Inside Out (#1)

Published: September 13th 2012

Publisher: Simon and Schuster

Goodreads: “The steamy first installment in the Inside Out erotic romance trilogy by Lisa Renee Jones, in the bestselling tradition of Fifty Shades of Grey.

When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she’s shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer—until the terrifying final entry.

Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she’s not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.”

Review

When I started reading the book I was expecting a Fifty Shades of  Grey story, with a controlling rich hottie, an innocent female character and lots of non-vanilla sex. So I was totally uninterested and bored… But after the first chapter I got so into it! Guys, if you didn’t like Fifty Shades of Grey or you don’t like to read about BDSM, you can still read this book! I think Goodreads described this book very poorly. You won’t find BDSM sex scenes, at least between the main character, Sara McMilan, and her “lover”, Chris Merit.

This story goes a lot deeper than a romance where the experienced “Dominant” introduces BDSM to the virginal “Submissive”. In this story you will read about a  woman who finds a few journals written by a woman called Rebecca. Rebecca is what you would call an Anastasia Steel (hahaha), she met a rich guy who showed her the dark side of … sex? (I don’t want to keep repeating myself by always saying BDSM – and I just said it again). Anyway, Sara decides she wants to look for Rebecca and give her her journals back. She calls the place where she works at, an art gallery, but everyone says Rebecca is on holidays. So Sara “infiltrates” herself on the art gallery and somehow gets hired by Mark, her sexy, intense, mysterious boss. (I know this sounds cliché, but no, what you think’s gonna happen isn’t gonna happen). Then Sara meets Chris, an artist who dresses like a biker (weird combination if I may add).

Sara and Chris then start having a hot affair, lots of  hot sex between them, then they reveal some of their secrets to each other, Chris getting jealous because Sara’s boss, Mark, wants to “do her” (his words!! no actually, he used the F- word but I’m trying to be polite here xD) – Even though, I thought this part of the book was hot, it was very tiring to read, I just wanted Sara to find out more things about Rebecca, nobody knows where she is, just that she’s on holiday with her rich boyfriend whose name nobody knows! Sara even starts suspecting that Rebecca might be dead! Lisa Renee Jones wrote all the sex scenes on one place, so it took me a while to read it since it was very repetitive. Trust me, I like a good sex scene like everyone else, but too much get’s boring…

In the last chapters Sara finds out a few things about her boss and Chris, things that frighten her… she then decides to concentrate more on the Rebecca mystery.  But when she’s about to find out something that will probably be a huge mind-blown, BAMM! THE END!

“NOOOOOOOO!”- I thought “How the hell can this end this way?!! One cannot simply end a book like this!”, but this ending made me realize that I liked reading this book, it was something different from what I’m used to read, and I’m totally in for good surprises xD I think I will read the second book but not for now.

Cover Reveal: Seeking Her by Cora Carmack

Seeking Her by Cora Carmack
SEEKING HER

Summary

“A few months after being honorably discharged from the military, Jackson Hunt is still struggling to adjust back to the real world. He needs to get a job and find a sense of normalcy if he’s going to keep his own demons at bay. The job that falls into his lap, though, is anything but normal.

Bodyguard (and baby-sitter) to spoiled-rich-girl Kelsey Summers isn’t exactly what he’d been looking for, but it’s a chance to travel, to get away from the home that has felt stifling ever since his return. It would be a pretty sweet gig if it weren’t for the fact that Kelsey’s father doesn’t want Kelsey to know she’s being followed. Hunt feels guilty (and a little bit creepy) as he watches her from afar. She’s vibrant and infuriating, exciting and reckless, mysterious and familiar. When he sees her falling into the same patterns that he suffered years ago, he decides it’s time to stop watching and help her instead. But getting to know her is more difficult than he thought, especially because the more he knows her,the more he wants her. ”

Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1)Poison Princess by Kresley Cole

Goodreads:  “She could save the world—or destroy it.

But she can’t do either alone.

A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side.”

Review

This book is so good!  It’s one of those books you simply must have on your shelves! Somehow, Kresley Cole was able to put together an Apocalypse, Tarot cards, weird super-powers, blood-sucking zombies and a sexy bayou guy! And guess what? The story is amazingly built 🙂

The Flash was the Apocalypse, on the day of the Flash there was a huge lightning that turned everybody that wasn’t in-doors into ashes. It also burned every plant and it is believed that the water from the rivers and the sea evaporated, although the characters on the book are never able to see if that was really true or not.

This book begins in Requiem, Tennessee, on day 246 A.F., with a creepy man who’s watching a girl just outside his house, he lures her in. Through his POV you realize this man, Arthur, has kidnapped and tortured a lot of girls before. He drugged them and them kept them on his basement, where he performed experiments. He them drugs the girl, Evie aka the main character, when he slips something on her drink. He asks Evie to tell him her story, what happened to her on the Flash, when all ended and everything began (I feel so cool to say this, I sound like an Oracle xD).

Then Evie starts telling her story (her POV now), she tells her story starting from day 6 B.F., she was in Sterling, Louisiana.

Evie is a 15 year-old teenager, who’s  rich and popular, has a quarterback boyfriend, a mansion and is on the cheer leading squad. But she hides a secret no one knows besides her and her mom, she spent three months on an Asylum. She had nightmares, hallucinations and sometimes even heard voices. Evie drew on a journal everything she saw, but after her mom found it, she was sent to an Asylum.

But after her summer holidays spent at the Asylum, she goes back home to start school. Even though her mom believes Evie is “better”, she wasn’t, she is still hearing voices,  having gory and creepy nightmares about monsters, a red-headed witch and Death, who is looking for her.

On her first day back she meets Jackson Deveaux, typical bad boy with family problems and traumatic childhood,  he is a Cajun. Cajuns are, in case you don’t know, an ethnic group living in the state of Louisiana. They’re descendants of the Acadian exiles (French speakers).

On Evie’s 16th b-day and also the day of the Flash, her friends make her a surprise birthday party and her boyfriend, Brand, is a total douche, he wants to “pop her cherry” and is constantly pressuring her. But naive Evie fears that Brand will dump her if she doesn’t have sex with him (typical).

She wanders by herself, to take a break from the party, where she runs into Jackson, he almost kisses her (this part was so hot!), later you realize Jackson was just distracting Evie cause his friend was stealing everybody’s cellphones and wallets (asshats).

I’m going to move on faster, or I will never end writing xD So Flash day and all, big, massive explosion of light, most humans are dead, no plants, almost no animals, Evie stays with her mom, mom gets sick, Evie finds out her blood is able to create plants, more hallucinations, nightmares and voices (she realizes the dreams she was having are actually visions of the future. Also, Bagmen, blood-sucking zombies who used to be humans.

Jackson finds Evie and tries to convince her to leave with her mother, because Militia men are coming and would enslave them. Evie doesn’t want to leave, but her mother dies shortly after, she then takes off with Jackson to look for her grandmother, who’s supposed to have all the answers to what’s happening to her. It seems that it is all connect to the Tarot cards, Evie is the Empress.

Later, Jack and Evie find a mansion with everything they could ever ask for, water, food and fully protected. Jack and Evie have a very heated moment by the pool, but horn-dog Jack quickly tries to jump on Evie’s panties, way to go dude *please note sarcasm*

“He was staring at my lips, and before I could think better of it, I’d wetted them.”

“That’s it, bébé,” he said in a coaxing rasp. “Ma bonne fille.” My good girl. He wrapped one of his arms behind my back, cupping my chin with his free hand. “Evangeline, I’m goan to kiss you until your toes curl, until we’re breathing for each other.”

The house belongs to someone (aka annoying b*tch of the story), the Archer one of the Tarot cards.

Evie starts talking more often to one of the voices, this voice belongs to Matt, who is also the Fool. Through him she discovers that she is supposed to fight Death and it’s allies who threaten her life and the whole world’s fate. She also finds out she can grow poisonous deathly claws.

“Come touch,…but you’ll a price”

“Remember my titles? I don’t get poisoned, I do the poisoning. I’m the Princess of it”

I will stop here, but I assure you this book has a lot more than what I have told you, this book is something very difficult to sum up xD so many things happen that it is just impossible to cover all of them!

Trust me, you want to read this book, it is a must!  – I just ordered the second book, can’t wait to have my hands on it!! ^.^

Happy Birthday Ana!

Hey everyone, today is Ana’s 19th b-day! I was thinking about just giving her a present and nothing else, but I think that it wouldn’t be nearly enough. So, that brought me here today. I’m gonna tell you how I met Ana (my POV ahaha).

I met Ana last year February, we had been having classes together since September but we never talked to each other (back then I was kind of an anti-social person ahaha). Anyway, we talked to each other for the first time on an English class, she started talking to someone about manga and anime, obviously I was like: “Manga?! Anime?! WHUT?”

Then she said “something, something, kpop”

Of course by then it was clear to me that me and this girl  had to be friends! So, I tried to look very calm and composed and went to talk to her. We talked for a while about anime and kpop like normal people do when then talk… idk, about normal things? Anyway, everything was going well, until someone mentioned “Harry Potter books, JK Rowling”, the topic changed to books! I then asked very innocently (NOT!), if anyone had a goodreads, Ana answered yes.

Once I got home I decided to stalk Ana and find her Goodreads. I shall try to show you how I reacted I saw her read list:

i4f8OrOmZLrwT

Ok, so I could only see: “OMG SHE LIKES THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, INFERNAL DEVICES, VAMPIRE ACADEMY, SIGNIFICANCE SERIES, LUX SERIES?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, ARE WE SISTERS?! DID GOD SET US APART WHEN WE WERE BORN SO OUR PARENTS WOULDN’T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH TWO OF US?!!!”

Then, once we saw each other at university you can guess how our conversation went: “books, books, books, anime, anime, kpop, kpop” 🙂

After a few weeks Ana asked me join her on chibireader, I was so, so HAPPY!

Now here we are, after many book recommendations, feels over books shared, stupid dances together (us trying to dance like on kpop mv’s), animes watched, phone calls where we hysterically expressed our ANGER and LOVE over CLOCKWORK PRINCESS (Cassandra Clare, if you ever read this, just wanted you to know, I will never forgive you!!), I can only say that I hope we can be friends until we’re old and gray. I can actually imagine us sitting on a couch, drinking tea, you with lots of dogs around you, we talking non-stop about what happened on this book, how we felt about it and how excited we are about the next book coming out for sale … 🙂

Thank you for everything, but above all, thank you for existing, cause if you didn’t, my mom would still have to listen to me when I finish reading a book. I’m sure she is done with it ahaha

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! GOOD LUCK FOR YOUR JAPANESE CLASSES!

P.S.: Ana, this Friday, your b-day party… just, well, brace yourself ;)) *evil laughter*

Sofyy’s Book Review: Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

Series: (White Rabbit Chronicles #1)

Published: January 1st 2012

Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Goodreads:  “ She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies…. I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.

I’d tell my sister no.

I’d never beg my mother to talk to my dad.

I’d zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.

Or, barring all of that, I’d hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.

I’d tell them I love them.

I wish… Yeah, I wish.”

Review:

I actually read this book last year, (and read it again this summer), it’s so good that I felt the need to share it with you guys, I recommend it to everyone who simply enjoys reading an awesome book!

I know, Alice in Wonderland and Zombies? Weird, right? I know, it doesn’t sound good, I,  myself wasn’t really into it when I started reading it… In my head Alice would be a little girl who would find herself in a different world, in this case, Zombieland, a land full of, guess what? Zombies!  It even made me remember the Resident Evil movies! If I’m not mistaken, the main character’s name is Alice.

Happily this book didn’t go the way I thought!

The story starts with happy blond Alice playing in the garden with her little sister, Ema. Ema’s birthday is in a few days and she begs Alice to talk to their mom because she wants to participate in a ballet recital. She never had the chance before because their father is afraid of the monsters who wander out in the street at night. My first impression on Alice’s father was that he was a crazy, agoraphobic and alcoholic man! He was always wandering around the house at night, drunk and armed (a dangerous combination if I might add), to see if he found any of those monsters he always referred to. Of course, I understood he was talking about zombies, that part seemed obvious, but what it didn’t was, if there were zombies, why would they only come out at night? And also, why could only Alice’s dad see them?

Alice’s mom is able to convince her husband to allow Ema to take part in her ballet recital on her birthday. As such, the family leaves and watches the recital, Alice’s dad always acting paranoid and crazy (but I guess that would be the normal him). Unfortunately, when they’re returning home, Alice’s dad starts screaming and yelling that there are monsters on the road, although no one sees them besides him.  Alice’s mom loses control on the wheel and they crash. Alice sees Ema, dead, her father, also dead, and her mom being devoured by zombies!

Alice then awakens in the hospital, where she’s told her family died, and she escaped with mere scratches. Then she moves to her grandparent’s house which is in a different city.

Eight months later (I can’t remember is it was eight months or not…), is Alice’s first day of school, Alice is now obsessed in finding out what were those things eating her mother and starts seeing things, sometimes when she is looking through her window at night. Anyway, Alice befriends Katy (love this character, she’s funny, awesome, badass, feminine, idk, she rules), whom she had met at the hospital after the accident. Alice then sees a group of rough-looking guys: black, leather, bruises, cuts, metals chains, tattoos, you know the drill, but then she sees Cole, whom I must say is described as:

“He was gorgeous, and I absolutely, no question, had to be drooling. After a quick and hopefully stealthy check – big show, I wasn’t!- I found myself wonder what color his eyes were. Brown maybe. Or even hazel. Either way…wow, just wow. (…)”

But once they look at each other’s eyes, something happens… No, it is not an imprint like on Twilight (THANK HEAVENS!), nor what happens on Significance series by Shelly Crane (if you haven’t read the Significance series, you have to do it!). Even though neither of these happen, I daresay, that what happens is…: hot, sexy, heart-throbbing, amazing, but nonetheless, wtf just happened in here? I mean, they were there and now they’re like… playing hokey with their tongues, not that I mind, but still, it’s confusing me!

But, worry not, all your doubts will be answered to further in the story.

I want to tell you more details, but I feel that I would be spoiling you! I don’t like it when people do that to me, so I won’t do it to you… BUT, if you want to know more ask me! Or if you have read this book want to talk about it, feel free to talk to me, I would love to hear your opinions!

This book is a lot more than a zombie story, or a love story, or even a story where the main character fights dark forces, I feel I have said a lot, but not nearly enough! Trust me, this book has so much to say, and has FREAKING PLOT-TWISTS that killed me! After reading Alice in Zombieland I was dying to read the second one! (which I read last month, and it was even better that the second one! I didn’t even think that was possible! Yes, I am currently dying to read the third one, which will only be out next year, October…. *cries*)

Gena Showalter is a genius who takes you into a world which is both frightening and compelling…
